This is a list of some of my favorite items to buy at Costco. It’ll change as items come and go.

I love shopping at Costco because I know that they’re curating their shelves for high quality and affordable prices, and they’re not overcharging me. Their business model of making money from memberships and charging 10-15% over their cost of goods absolutely rocks.

Coffee

Right now these enormous 2.7 lb (1.23 kg) containers of ground Folgers classic roast coffee are selling for $11.99. They make up to 400 8 oz cups of coffee. That’s 3 cents a cup!

I consider myself something of a coffee snob, and I find the taste great. It’s actually now my daily cuppa.

Black Beans

Black beans at Costco

8-packs of 15 ounce cans of beans for $8.79. In my experience a 15 oz can makes enough black beans for 6-8 large burritos.

Stir-fry garlic, sliced onion, paprika, chili powder, and the beans and your filling has been made.

Who knew veggie burritos tasted so good!

San Marzano Tomatoes

Whole peeled tomatoes are long-lasting and are ingredients in a myriad of dishes.

These are essential ingredients in my curry, chili and ribollita soup. They’re extremely versatile and long lasting, and a great source of vitamin C. The current listed expiry is three years from now.

Rice

Staple of any prepping pantry, this bag of rice will feed 160 people for $13.5!

Rice is a staple at any meal. Long lasting, easy to store, and a good source of carbohydrates for energy.

These bags are 15 lbs each. According to the internet, a 15 lb bag will feed 160 people a cup of cooked rice. For $13.5!

Green Beans

I’m not a huge fan of canned green beans, but, they’re affordable (92 cents a can), are a good source of nutrition and fiber, and can supplement the veggies you grow in your yard.

Honorable mention to cans of chicken, tuna and sardines.
